Flow Blue was produced in England and was intended to emanate characteristics strikingly similar to the much more expensive Chinese porcelain of the period. Chinese porcelain was a luxury item of the period and English pottery makers created flow blue as similar and far less expensive product. Flow Blue is now collected world wide
While some believe that flow blue was discovered quite by accident, most experts think that the blurring and flowing technique used to fashion the designs was quite deliberate. Today many of these works produced are still in high demand and very valuable.
There are literally hundreds of known patterns, some of the more collectable patterns with the notable heavy flow include; Scinde, Oriental, Cashmere, Shapoo or Chapoo, Pelew, Manila, and many more.
